I won an award.
Seriously.
I don’t win things very often. Sure, I won some races and I won Miss Interbike Booth Babe 2006 and I won Employee of the Month at Friendly’s when I worked the fountain one summer in college scooping ice cream, but other than that I don’t win much. Andy would argue the opposite of this and would support said argument with a presentation of my boxes of trophies and medals and other race related paraphernalia that sit in various locations around the house. But really, aside from obscure hill climb races that nobody wants to bother with and the occasional running race, I really don’t win a lot of things.
So this means a lot to me:
I was presented this Attitude of Gratitude award from fellow sewing blogger Paulette in Alaska. She’s tiny like me (although not as freakishly short) and she has similar taste in clothes.
Thanks Paulette!
And now I will bestow the award on some more deserving fellow bloggers:
Robin in NM – curator of Additional Jesus, quite probably the best name for a blog one could come up with. Her story behind the name is even funnier. She sews too.
Marlou – she started sewing around the same time that I did (like, 3 months ago) and is also obsessed with vintage patterns. Her collection puts mine to shame.
Notamermaid – great style, wonderful fabric choices, and has a body of a supermodel.
And finally, my cycling writing friend over at WhatIThink. Her stories of bike store sales and eBay craziness make me laugh and remind me why I only managed to last 9 months working in a bike shop.
Now, onto other business:
Latest Projects for Sewing. (In case the cyclists out there are wondering what’s up with all the sewing and where did the cycling go, well, I am still training. I just don’t have much interest in racing at the moment. This is my 11th consecutive season of racing bikes. That is some sort of a milestone for female cyclists, who apparently have a shelf life of <7 years. If you don’t believe me, look race results from a major race like Fitchburg and look at the women’s P-1-2 fieldĀ from five to eight years ago and see how many are still racing. Aside from the one’s earning a salary doing it, there aren’t too many left).
I saw these on the Express website (a store that I would never, ever set foot in because nothing there fits me) and decided that I can make these:
I have one pattern in my collection for a similar pair of shorts and I have a fabric in my stash that is similar to the dressĀ (I will need to track down a strapless dress pattern). Now I just need to figure out why I feel the need to have a strapless dress and where I am going to wear it. Maybe I’ll volunteer my services for Fitchburg and be a Podium Girl this year.
