Where’d you go?

August 5th, 2011 by kerry

So where did I go? Well, I left the blog on undetermined hiatus because I was consumed with wedding planning. The wedding was July 9th and now that life is back to normal, I can focus on other things, like boring the people of the Internet with my random ramblings, social commentary, general complaining, occasional race reports (yeah right…like I actually race anymore) and a token picture or two.

First up is a brief recap of wedding planning, the wedding, and our honeymoon. I made my wedding dress for the total cost of about $450. The dress I made was inspired by a Pronovias gown that cost $4800.This is a photo of the dress I sort of knocked off (the basic style was the same but I made a few changes to the train and the back of the dress).

And this is the dress I made:
My best friend since 4th grade, Erika Salatiello (go watch Invictus, her name is in the credits).

And this is the guy I married:
Me and the Husband on Tremont St. in Boston, en route to the ceremony

Before you ask, we only wore the sunglasses while we walked from our hotel to the ceremony. We took them off for the ceremony. The wedding was in the Boston Public Garden next to the Ether Monument, which is the oldest statue in the park and happens to be a memorial to the first ever use of general anesthesia. Could you think of a more romantic spot? Me neither.

The reception was at Mantra Restaurant, 52 Temple Place, Boston, in their Ombar. Looks like this.

Our honeymoon involved 4 days in Rome, which looked like this: (click to make big)

We then left Rome and flew to Lyon, France for a 10 day cycling tour with Adventure Travel Group that involved riding every day in the Alps and watching the last 5 stages of the Tour. It looked like this: (click to see a giant size Sammy Sanchez)

Stay tuned for more.
