I teach high school. I’ve been doing this since 2001, and I was thoroughly convinced that kids today are a lot dumber than when I was in school. I don’t mean that we are failing them in terms of their education, it just seems that my students make a lot of spelling and grammar errors that I stopped making about halfway through the third grade.
Then I was on Facebook today, and I happened upon this on the wall of a high school acquaintance of mine:
I don’t even know what to say, but this puts a major hole in my theory that those of us who graduated from high school in the early 1990s are somehow smarter than kids today. Big, big hole.
