Sewing Projects

I realize the bike racing community probably isn’t interested in my sewing antics, so all sewing projects will be listed here instead of on the main page as blog entries (that is, unless I feel that a sewing project is worthy of a blog entry). A few disclaimers for anyone who thinks I’ve lost my mind:
I am learning to sew because I want to make my own wedding dress. I figure that the more I practice different techniques, the better a chance I will stand of actually making said dress. I am making things out of a variety of fabrics because I want to be really comfortable when time finally comes to sew the wedding gown.

I realizes the poses in these photos are a bit over the top. But I have learned something in my attempts at fashion photography – clothes look better when you do dopey things like stand with your hands on your hips, lean sideways and stick your butt out. Really. There’s a reason why magazines shoot the models that way. If I just stood there looking normal the photo really wouldn’t show the quality of the clothes.

My fiance Andy takes the photos. My hobby is sewing, his is photography. We spend many a Friday night with a camera, some outfits, and maybe a bottle of wine. These photos are the result. We have fun doing this. I’ll let you make your own judgement on that but deep down inside you know you want to play dress up, go try on outfits and pretend to be a supermodel.
